Efficient k-Derivative Methods for Lane-Emden Equations and Related Stiff Problems

M. O. Ogunniran*, Y. Haruna, R. B. Adeniyi

Lane-Emden equations are one of singular classes of problems in mathematical physics. Existing methods for this class of problems are series and analytical methods. This study focuses on the exploration of the possibility of a class of multi-derivative methods for approximating its solution. Taylor’s series expansion was applied on a new multi-derivative backward differenti ation formula to obtain...

Four Steps Collocation Block Method for Solving Second Order Differential Equations

A. A. Aigbiremhon*, L. A. Ukpebor

In this paper, a four-step block Method for numerical solution of second order differential equations using Legendre polynomials as the basic function is developed. Interpolation and collocation procedures are used by choosing interpolation points at s = 2 steps points using power series, while collocation points at r = k step points, using a combination of power series and perturbation term gotte...

Common Fixed Point Theorems for Five Self Mappings in a Complete Metric Space

I. A. Sani*, K. Rauf

In this research work, we use five different operators P, Q, R, T, and B, to show that there exists a common fixed point among the five operators and prove the uniqueness. Furthermore, we establish that the pairs (R,B),(R,Q),(R,T) and (R,P) are weakly compatible (that is they commute). The result extend and improve the work of Latpate and Dolhare (2017).

Numerical Approximation of Fractional Relaxation-Oscillation Equation by Aboodh Transform Method

O. O. Olubanwo*, A. T. Talabi, O. A. Dehinsilu, O .S. Odetunde

In this paper, we present the approximate solutions of fractional relaxation-oscillation equations by using Aboodh Transform Method (ATM). Some examples are considered to illustrate the capability and reliability of the method. The solutions obtained are presented in the form of rapidly convergent series with easily computable terms. The results obtained by ATM are compared with the exact solution...

Homotopy Perturbation with Laplace Transforms Method for Solving Singular Initial Value Problems

M. O. Olayiwola*, A. Adegoke

In this paper, the Homotopy Perturbation Method with Laplace Transform (LT-HPM) is employed in solving the Lane-Emden type of differential equations. Application is on linear and nonlinear Lane-Emden singular initial value problems. Com parison with exact solution shows considerable acceleration in convergence. The method is effective and easy to im plement. The results are also presented in tabul...

Phase-fitted partitioned Runge-Kutta methods for separable oscillatory Hamiltonian systems and related problems

J. O. Ehigie*, S. A. Okunuga, E. Ayeni

We present an approach for deriving some phase-fitted Parti tioned Runge-Kutta (PRK) methods for numerical integration of separable Hamiltonian and related systems. The approach constitute the modification of the existing PRK such that some parameters are modified to eliminate the phase-lag and the amplification error using the analysis of phase properties. The new coefficients are derived such th...

Some Results on a Scalable Congestion Control System

O. O. Solanke*, A. D. Aina, O. B. Alaba, M. A. Usman, T. J. Odule, K-K. A. Abdullah

In this article, a congestion control system with the facility of load balancing is designed to solve congestion problem that may be associated with transmission of data over the internet. This will enable small scale service providers to have an uninterrupted and easy way of transmitting information over the internet, using affordable and scalable system that provides connectivity when other rout...

A Truncated Acceptance Sampling Inspection Plans for Finite and Infinite Lot Under Rayleigh Distribution

J. O. Braimah*, d I. W. Edokpa

In this paper, single and double acceptance sampling plans were developed when the product life time follows a Rayleigh Distri bution. The sample size (n) and Average Sample Number (ASN) for single and double sampling plans respectively were developed. The operating characteristic values for the two sampling plans were also obtained. The sampling plans were also obtained for various values of the ...

Determination of Consistent Performance of Lax-Friedrichs Method in Solving Seepage Problem

F. D. Bakare*, I. O. Abiala, J. S. Aroloye

We developed a consistent Lax-Friedrichs method for numerical solution of the seepage problem subject to some initial and boundary conditions. We also compared the result obtained using numerical method (Lax-Friedrichs) with the result obtained using Alternating Direction Implicit finite difference method (ADIS). The scheme developed was found to be stable for φ < 1, and unstable for φ ≥ 1. Since ...
