About the Journal

The Nigerian Journal of Mathematics and Applications (NJMA) is a double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal published three times a year by the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN). It publishes original research across all areas of mathematics and its applications — from numerical analysis, functional analysis and semigroup theory to fluid dynamics, mathematical biology, statistics, optimisation and mathematics education.

Our purpose

NJMA is the research journal of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria. It considers submissions from mathematicians anywhere in the world and judges them on the same terms wherever they come from, giving that work a permanent, freely accessible home and holding it to the standard of proof and analysis the subject demands.

The editors give higher recognition to papers that combine sound mathematical concepts with applications, and to mathematics motivated by the prospect of potential application. That preference shows in what the journal prints: block and hybrid integrators for stiff systems alongside boundary-layer flow over a stretching sheet, fixed point theorems alongside epidemic models for hepatitis B and Ebola, semigroup theory alongside the scheduling of machines and the routing of water. Pure mathematics is welcome on its own terms — but mathematics that reaches for a use is what this journal most wants to carry.

Open access

Everything NJMA publishes is free to read, download and share from the day it appears. There is no subscription, no paywall and no embargo period. Publication is funded by author charges rather than by readers, and those charges are set out in full under Fees and Charges in the Author Guidelines.

The archive

The journal's back catalogue is being digitised and added to this site volume by volume. Volume 23 (2014) onwards is available now in the Archives, and articles published from Volume 36 (2026) are assigned a DOI and deposited with Crossref.

Scope and submissions

The subject areas we cover, the methods we accept and the kinds of manuscript that fall outside our remit are set out on the Aims & Scope page. Submissions are made through this website, and the Author Guidelines carry everything an author needs: manuscript types and length limits, formatting and referencing, how peer review works, fees, publication ethics and copyright.
