Abstract

In this paper, we considered an extended 2-point Super class of block backward differentiation formula for solving stiff initial value problems (IVPs) and introduced two off-step points in it. The method produces two solution values together with two off-step points simultaneously at each iteration. The varying free parameter ρ is chosen in the interval (−1, 1) which leads to different forms of the formulae. A careful choice of ρ = 2 5 is made. Stability analysis shows that the method is A-stable. Numerical results show that the new method performs better than the existing 2BBDF in terms of accuracy and competes with the 2ESBBDF. Thus, suitable for solving stiff initial value problems.
